In the photo above, during 1998, work continued to remove the heavy generators and switchgear, as well as preparation on the roof for installation of the 'Light Beam'.

By May 1998 work continued apace in the good weather to meet the 2000 deadline for the conversion of 'Power into Art.'

Tate Gateway
The Millennium Bridge -  In September 1999 the yellow signs advised, 'steps closed' and 'No access to City of London school.' The building of the new Millennium Bridge was underway.
